Kinesio® Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. The tape has elastic fibers imbedded through it in a wave form that provides extended soft tissue manipulation beyond the treatment received in the office. By targeting different nerve receptors within the skin, the tape relieves pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage (reduces swelling) by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect gently forms convolutions in the skin, increasing space between tissue layers of skin, fascia and muscle, allowing for decreased inflammation.
The unique way Kinesio® Tape acts on the body allows me to treat many conditions that were difficult to treat before. These include bursitis of the hip, tendonitis of the shoulder and other areas. Depending on how it is applied, the action of muscles can be strengthened or weakened or ligaments can be stabilized allowing for faster healing of sprains. Each situation is different and each application is designed to achieve a very specific affect.
